August Socin, (* 21 February 1837 Vesey, "† 22 January 1899 Basel) was a Swiss surgeon.
Socin studied medicine in Basel and peppering castle, where he attained a doctorate also to 1857. After further specializedscientific-surgical training in Prague, Vienna and in Paris and London he habilitierte himself later 1861 in Basel.
1859 it became Assistenzsarzt at the Baseler citizen hospital and-took over 1861 the line of the surgical hospital to Basel. Already 1862 took place the appointment to a.o. the professor and 1864 to ordentl. Professor of the surgery in Basel.
1866 he worked in the Austrian military hospital of Verona and from August to November 1870 in the reserve military hospital in Karlsruhe. In this time also its work developed over the war-surgical experiences.
