August Johann George Karl Batsch (* 28 October 1761 in Jena, "† 29 September 1802 ebenda) was a German Botaniker, physician and a writer.
With Batsch, which was informed in the city school, later then private instruction had, showed up already early the inclination to the natural sciences, particularly to the Botanik. 1772 it began the study of the medicine and natural history at the University of Jena, where it 1781 to the Dr. phil. one attained a doctorate. From 1782 to 1783 it worked as private lecturer in Botanik and Zoologie at the University of Jena and was 1784 to 1786 managers of the Reuss Plaui material assets collection in
to 1786 it with Justus Christian attained a doctorate blazes to the Dr. med. 1788 became it an extraordinary professor (particularly for Botanik and chemistry) and 1792 full professor for natural history at the medical faculty. It created 1793 the nature-searching society to Jena. 1794 it justified the Botani garden in Jena, whose line took over as a director it.

Under the name "A tri bus rosis" it was member of the strict Observanz. Also it had joined the Illuminatenorden under the medal name "Flavianus", and/or "Florian" and became a secretary of the Minervalkirche in Weimar; 1783 "Presbyter".
