Already 1903 went the Brennerei at George & John McLachlan Ltd., to what 1923 into McLachlans Ltd. were renamed. In March 1941 the Destillerie was partly destroyed with a German Fliegerangriff and developed only after the Second World War again. On 3 February 1948 it was taken again in enterprise. In the sixties J&R Tennent Ltd. transferred. the owner at that time McLachlans Ltd. in order 1964 even by Charingtons - which starting from 1967 bass Charington are called - to be swallowed. 1969 became Auchentoshan at Eadie Cairns Ltd. sold, which sold it to 1984 at Morrison Bowmore, with which them landed finally 1994 with Suntory. Today it is one of the last Brennereien in enterprise in the Lowlands.

Production

The water of the Brennerei belonging to the region Lowlands originates from the Cochna hole in the Kilpatrick Hills. The used Malz is only completely easily getorft. They had a Maischbottich (mash do) (6,825t) made of high-grade steel and seven fermenting tanks (wash-out backs) (for each 35.000l), of it three made of high-grade steel and four from douglas fir wood. In a wash-out (17.300l), intermediate (8.000l) is distilled and one spirit quietly (11.500l). For Scottish Brennereien three-fold distillation, the Alkkoholgehalt of the new makes is unusual lies therefore relatively highly - with approximately 80 to 82%. Before the racking into the barrels it is reduced to approximately 63.5%.
