Auchan is a European hypermarket chain, which is represented since 1999 world-wide and in 11 countries of 165,000 coworkers employed. To Auchan 356 hypermarkets, 646 supermarkets (conditions belong: Nov. 2005) as well as over 2.000 smaller supermarkets.

The enterprise names resulted due to the first business location, as Mulliez (today: President) and its 30 coworkers on the "skin Champs" to Roubaix (France) 1961 in a former factory the work accepted. Later the enterprise began already six years to open further branches.
