The law over the remuneration of the woman barristers and attorneys (short: Attorney remuneration law or RVG) is since 1 July 2004 the legal basis of the account of the fees of the attorneys. The RVG replaced starting from the time mentioned the valid regulations of the Federal Law lawyer's fee order (BRAGO) and applies to orders, which are given after 30 June 2004 opposite attorneys.

With the Verabschiedung of the RVG in the year 2004 the legislator pursues the goal of making the costing and remuneration right simpler and more transparent. The new attorney remuneration law is to create incentives for attorneys for supporting their mandators strengthened with controversy settlements out of court in order to reduce thereby the working load of the courts. In addition the height of the remuneration is to orient itself more than so far at the extent and at the difficulty of the anwaltlichen activity.
The legally regulated rates of charge for attorneys, who - apart from slight changes in the context of the conversion to euro since 1994 were unchanged, also 2004 were not increased. Rather an increase of the remuneration is to occur by the changed fee structure. In opinion of the Federal Department of Justice the remuneration of attorneys increases by the decree of the RVG by 14 per cent. Many legal protection insurers go out against it with an increase of the remuneration around more than 20 per cent.

For the approximation and equating of the account of the lawyer's fees the RVG was divided similarly as the legal charges law into two parts. The RVG consists of the law part with the general regulations and of a remuneration listing, in which the respective facts are regulated, for the fees results.
To lawyer notaries, so far it applies not as an attorney, but when notary become active, the regulation of the fees in the cost order, not the RVG.
