Astra is a beer mark, under which in the region Hamburg different beers are marketed.

Astra is manufactured by the Bavaria St.Pauli brewery GmbH. Until 2003 this between the jetties and the Reeperbahn in Hamburg happened. The original buildings were in the meantime torn off. Meanwhile the brewery is part of the getting EN brewery AG.

Mark development

Until about 1910 were marketed the beer under the name Bavaria. Afterwards the beer developed to a "Kiez icon". To the turn of the century it stood badly around "Astra", it after the buying up by Holsten the attitude of the mark was considered. On the other hand some protest, there many customers the beer not so much because of its Wohlgeschmacks, moved probably however as Hamburg one original estimated.

This led finally to an impudent and for the beer market - which struggles unusual campaign, which put Astra out purposefully as a beer of the simple, working population for decades almost exclusively for image gain and an acceptance in elevated and purchase-strong social classes - and to at first an not expected new success help the mark.

- Placed primarily at Hamburg bus stops - advertisement posters varied again and again again to a popular with beer drunkards did not only develop and by "Freiwilligen" "were abdekoriert so quite often prematurely". • Astra exclusive (alc. 4.9% volume.)
• Astra Pilsener (alc. 4.9% volume.)
• Astra original of Hamburg Alsterwasser (alc. 2.5% volume.)
• Astra red light (alc. 6.0% volume.)

Astra Urtyp gives it in the 0.5 litres bottle, in boxes with 11 (Elfer) or 20 bottles. Additionally it is available in the handier 0.33 litres stone IE bottle, which is designated colloquially also than tuber or garnet, -- then in a 30's-box, also pallet or red suit-case mentioned. The tuber is sold since at the beginning of of 2006 also in a cardboard box named FREIGHTER, which contains eight bottles (with the advertising slogan FREIGHTER - good than six). Isolated since approx. May 2006 also again Astra Urtyp is offered to doses into 0,5 litres.
