Arnold (play goods) (metal play goods factory K. Arnold GmbH & CO) was a German enterprise, which manufactured sheet metal toys and model railways. The enterprise was created on 4 October 1906 in Nuremberg von Karl Arnold and produced there mainly sheet metal toy. In the Second World War all manufacturing plants was destroyed. It remained only the branch in the Mhlhausen. There after end of war production was again taken up. By the gradual decrease of the sheet metal toy one shifted ends itself the fifties on the production of model railways. In the year 1960 for the first time models in the track width N (N for "nine millimeters") on the play goods fair became. presented. After some different beginnings the models were then manufactured starting from 1962 on a scale 1:160 under the trademark "Arnold Rapido". 1964 were internationally standardized the yardstick 1:160. After many successful years Arnold had to announce 1995 insolvency. 1997 were taken over the enterprise by the Italian competitor Rivarossi (model railways). In the year 2001 production was stopped in 2003 went to Rivarossi likewise into insolvency. 2004 acquired the "Hornby PLC." Parts of Rivarossi and among other things also the label name Arnold.
