Alfred Merton (* 25. June 1878 in Frankfurt; "† 4 April 1954 in bath Nauheim) was supervisory board chairman of the metal company.

It was the oldest of two sons of William Merton, founder of the metal company in Frankfurt, and Emma shop castle (* 1859 in Frankfurt), the daughter of Emil shop castle (* 1822 in Mannheim; "† 1902 in Frankfurt) of the partner of the famous and influential banking house shop castle, which came up later in the German bank.

Alfred Merton was late supervisory board chairman of the metal company and numerous subsidiaries. It finances among other things considerably the attempt Fritz Habers to win from water gold. To be able to fulfill attempts around the threatening gigantic reparation payments from the Versailler contract to winner powers of the German Reich.

Although it was a large not only for the city Frankfurt, it had to emigieren 1934 temporarily into the USA.
