The Adidas Salomon AG with seat in Herzogenaurach, originally designated after its founder Adolf Dassler (after its pointed name "Adi "and the first three letters of its surname), is after Nike the second largest sports article manufacturer of the world.
The mark Adidas became with the profit of the German crew with the soccer world championship 1954 in Berne, to which miracles so mentioned of Berne, world-wide admits. With the sale plans of Salomon the union with the competitor Reebok accompanied with the goal of approaching the world market leader Nike. Herbert Hainer remains further chairman of the board of the new Adidas group, during Paul Fireman by its position as CEO of Reebok International Ltd. and now as Hainers advisor withdrew is active.
Adidas did not have so far contrary to Reebok a large market share in the sport shoe business in the USA. In Europe the relationship of market positions of both manufacturers turned around. There Reebok is in a weaker market position. With the fusion Adidas market shares at the sport shoe business wants to win and its position opposite the world market leader Nike (2005 a conversion of 11,6 billion euro) strengthen.

The well-known brand name are the three strips and the Logo with the three sheets (Trefoil), which are to symbolize the olympic spirit, which connects the three continental plates.
