"Acta Eruditorum" (lat. = reports, acts of the scholars) called itself the first scientific magazine of Germany. It was justified and given change 1682 in Leipzig by the scholar Otto Mencke (gest. 1707) after the example journal of the (since 1665).

After his death his son, the historian Johann Burckhardt Mencke (1674-1732) resumed the enterprise up to his own dying.

Afterwards it continued its son Friedrich Otto Mencke under the title new facts Acta Eruditorum. The magazine is two years after its death 1782 with that 117. Volume received.

The emphasis of their articles was on the natural sciences and mathematics.

As German-language counterpart Otto Mencke 1712 justified the German Acta Eruditorum, which in particular developed an emphasis with the historical writings and at that time current controversies.
