Academic advice (Abk. AR'in and/or ACRE) is an office designation for an official in the higher service, which does not work on university or another university (e.g. academy of art, educational university), however on a professional school in Germany than scientific or artistic coworker. In Bavaria nationallegally also an occupation at the Academy of Sciences is permissible as specialists.

The position is recompensed with the paying stage A 13 after the federal pay law. Offices for transport are academic upper advice, academic director and direction academic director. Academic director and direction academic director are permissible as offices for transport only then, if it concerns with the place a particularly lifted out place, e.g. as practical course leaders or as department managers.

The specialized careers within other ranges carry appropriate resolutions (government advice, board of directors, building advice, secondary school teacher, Legationsrat etc.).

Recently in many Lands of the Federal Republic academic advice are appointed into the official relationship to time. Thus conditions of employment usual for Habilitationen as a scientific assistant in the salary bracket c1 appropriate service relationship for new generation scientists was created. This is in the subjects, in which the Juniorprofessur does not seem to become generally accepted, the Habilitation makes again more popular. This could be usually only made after (hasty) the omission of the Besoldungsordung c1 in (limited) the employee relationship, with which the according to tariff payment is by far under, which is paid otherwise in view of the qualification of the concerning (outstanding graduation etc.). The Lands of the Federal Republic (e.g. Baden-Wuerttemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hessen, North Rhine-Westphalia), with which already again a Verbeamtung on time are possible, provide so also (provisional) an advantage over other one (e.g. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rhineland-Palatinate) in the competition over particularly qualified scientific new generation (keyword: Brain drain).

The temporally limited appointment as the official serves after the Habilitation also for the bypass the time up to appointment as a professor or another occupation.
